Read on to learn more about Natalie's background, her philosophy on working with horses, and some of her favorite equestrian must-haves.
Natalie's Background
My name is Natalie Law, and I live in southern Utah, where I'm blessed to ride in one of the most spectacular places on Earth. It's bucket-list riding in every direction!
Growing up, I was horse crazy and always had horses on my mind. I got my first horse in fifth grade, but because of life and just being a kid, I didn't get to keep her for long. Time passed, and when I was about 30, I finally stepped back into the horse world. What began as a love of riding eventually grew into a passion for horsemanship, endurance riding, trail riding, and sharing horses with others.
Over the years, my equestrian journey has taken many different paths. I've been fortunate to ride and own a variety of breeds, from Icelandics for pleasure riding to American Saddlebreds for endurance, and even the legendary little Hackney pony, Flash. Horses have introduced me to incredible people, breathtaking places, and lessons that extend far beyond the saddle. Today, I enjoy everything from competitive endurance riding to helping new riders gain confidence and experience the joy that horses can bring.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue exploring trails, competing in endurance events, and helping others discover the unique bond that exists between horse and rider. My goals have evolved, but they always come back to the same thing: creating meaningful experiences with horses and sharing that passion with others.
Q & A with Natalie:
What lessons have horses taught you?
Horses have taught me patience, humility, and resilience. They don't care about titles, accomplishments, or plans. They live in the moment and respond honestly to what we bring each day. Some of my greatest successes and biggest mistakes have happened because of horses, and both have been valuable teachers. They've taught me that progress is rarely linear and that consistency often matters more than perfection.
Is there a race or specific memory that sticks out?
My favorite ride was completing the Tevis Cup 100-mile ride in 2021 with my 13-year-old daughter on her 11.2hh Hackney pony, Flash. Their story reminded me that heart, determination, and partnership can overcome limitations that others might see. But more personally, my favorite memories aren't necessarily the race results at all; they're mentoring new riders and especially juniors in endurance and watching their skills and confidence grow.
How do you overcome fears or obstacles?
I've learned that confidence comes from preparation and experience. When I face a challenge, whether it's a difficult trail, a competition goal, or a setback, I focus on what I can control. I break big obstacles down into smaller steps and trust the foundation I've built with my horses. Horses have taught me that courage isn't the absence of fear, it's moving forward despite it.
What is your guiding philosophy when it comes to horses?
My philosophy is simple: put the horse first. Every horse is an individual with unique strengths, challenges, and needs. I believe that the best partnerships are built on trust, patience, and listening. When we take the time to understand our horses, they often give us more than we ever expected.
Who is your biggest supporter or cheerleader?
My family has always been my biggest support system. They have encouraged me through long rides, early mornings, late nights, and countless horse-related adventures. Having people who understand and support this passion has made all the difference.
Throughout your equestrian journey, what has been your proudest accomplishment?
Finishing the Tevis Cup is definitely at the top of my accomplishment lists, but I'd say my most cherished rides are the ones where my horse has won Best Condition. This award tells me that not only did we finish, but we finished well, and my horse was ready and excelled.
What are your favorite, must-have products?
A few items I never want to be without are comfortable riding pants, dependable sun shirts, electrolytes for both horse and rider during long rides, and durable tack that stands up to miles on the trail. My absolute favorite tack is probably my ThinLine saddle pad. Having gear that is comfortable and reliable allows me to focus on my horse and enjoy the ride.
Thoughts From Natalie
I have greatly appreciated being sponsored by Riding Warehouse because they support riders of every discipline and at every stage of their journey. Their commitment to quality products, education, and the equestrian community aligns with my own belief that horses bring people together. I'm grateful for the opportunity to represent a company that helps riders pursue their goals while prioritizing the well-being of their horses.
If I could leave riders with one piece of advice, it would be this: enjoy the journey. It's easy to focus on the next goal, competition, or accomplishment, but some of the most meaningful moments happen in between. Horses have a way of teaching us lessons we didn't know we needed. Listen to them, appreciate the process, and never stop learning.
