English Breastplates and Martingales
Breastplates and martingales are pieces of tack designed to provide stability and support in different riding situations. Breastplates attach to the saddle and girth to help prevent the saddle from sliding backward, making them especially useful for jumping, eventing, and riding over hilly terrain. Martingales are available in two common styles: standing and running. Both help limit excessive head movement, but they function differently. A standing martingale features a fixed strap that runs from the girth to the noseband, while a running martingale attaches from the girth to the reins, which pass through rings to allow a sliding action that offers the rider more flexibility.
