Comments: I bought these hoof testers after my Cushing's Disease horse developed his 4th abscess in a year. While there are many hoof testers on the market, I reasoned that I didn't need a professional-grade pair. I won't be using them that often, and with any luck, never again, so I went with this pair. They are surprisingly heavier than I expected. I poked around at both of my horses' hooves trying to determine just how hard I need to squeeze. I eventually realized that I can squeeze as hard as I can without getting a reaction on a healthy hoof. My Arab has smaller hooves than my 16'3 hand warmblood, but I was able to use these on both horses equally well. The ends have a diamond-cut so they have some traction when you're using them. They're light enough for a woman to use, but seem sturdy enough for a man to really press firmly. If you're looking for a serviceable pair of hoof tests that won't break the bank, these are an excellent choice.
