Product Details
Cleaning:
- Remove the interior pads in your Tipperary Helmet prior to cleaning it
- Hand wash the interior lining and pads with cold water and mild soap
- Clean your Tipperary Helmet with a soft cloth just on the outer shell
- Brush the interior of your Tipperary Helmet with a soft brush (e.g. toothbrush)
- To clean your Helmet use mild soap and water
- Rinse your Helmet with cold water
- Let your Helmet air dry
- Do not use any cleaning agents other than a mild soap
Care:
- Do not expose or store this helmet, its interior liner or any of its components to common household cleaners, bug sprays, cleaning solvents, paints, chemicals or fertilizers. Doing so may result in unseen damage to the helmet.
- Do not store your Helmet in direct sunlight or in any area where the temperature could exceed 130°F or 54°C (e.g. interior of a vehicle)
- Do not machine wash or dry clean
Tipperary Helmet Replacement Policy Provisions:
- Tipperary will replace a helmet that has been damaged in a riding accident up to two years from the date of purchase
- Discount of 50% of the current retail price of damaged helmet will be provided to qualifying customers
- If processed by Riding Warehouse:

- Riding Warehouse staff will email Tipperary the helmet SKU, customer name and proof the helmet has been destroyed (e.g., images of helmet with harness cut or removed)
- Tipperary will inform Riding Warehouse if the discount replacement program applies to the customer’s replacement helmet
- Customer selects new Tipperary helmet and Riding Warehouse processes order, applying appropriate discount amount as per direction from Tipperary
- If processed by Tipperary directly:

- If qualifying, Tipperary will ship the customer a new helmet with applicable discount, plus a $10 shipping and handling fee
- Helmets that have been damaged through misuse or dropping do not qualify for this program
- IMPORTANT: Helmets involved in an accident should not be worn again. Customer will be instructed to cut off the harness to ensure no one uses the damaged helmet and properly dispose of it

Comments: I have worn the Sportage 8500 for years and chose the Sportage Hybrid for it's removable, washable liner. The fit of the Hybrid is identical to the 8500 (which came with both thick and thin pads). The air flow feels the same even though the Hybrid has mesh between your head and the shell holes - it's a very open mesh. I love the new fastener! It is so much quicker and easier to release. It did take a little practice in a mirror to teach my fingers though. It is so hot in southern Arizona in the summer that my head is always dripping with sweat even with the great ventilation provided by the Sportage helmets. For me, the washable liner is worth the extra money!

Comments: This helmet is comfortable and lightweight for schooling. It has good ventilation, and the harness is secure without being annoying. Sometimes I even forget I'm wearing it! That's the sign of a good helmet, to me!

Comments: Tipperary Sportage Hybrid's whole main all-over inside liner is actually fully remove-able and washable. It's just hard to tell. They have extra Sportage Hybrid Helmet Liners one can get for every exact size and color, not just the little pads. You can have a fresh one on as often as you would like. The full liner cleaning instructions "Hand wash in mild soap. Rinse with clean water. Air dry."

Comments: This is the best schooling helmet I've ever owned. Great breathability, avoids that "mushroom head" look other brands can give you, and the colorful mesh is a lot of fun.

Comments: This helmet fits my oval shaped head better than the previous Tipperary helmets (8500) due to the interchangeable rear pad. You can use a thicker or thinner rear pad, both are in the package with the helmet. The thinner one gives me a great fit. I wear an XL and the old style always felt a little uncomfortably tight from to back. This helmet does not feel too tight. I had thought this helmet might have a washable liner, it does not. You can remove and wash the rear pad, but there is not removable washable brow pad, which I was really hoping for. The new latch system on the harness under the chin is fiddly and I'm still not used to it, and it takes a bit of fumbling to latch it on. For me this helmet is a bit of an improvement over the 8500, but I'd happily pay more for a true washable liner system.
