Overview

Whether using alone or in conjunction with Thinline's Flexible Filly Muzzle, the Thinline Flexible Filly Turnout Halter is designed with your horse's comfort in mind! This halter has strategically placed “keepers” for attachment and security of the grazing muzzle; enables the muzzle to sit in the proper position, remaining clear of your horse's lips and nostrils. Two stainless steel buckles hold the leather breakaway strap in place while also offering a customizable fit. This halter is strategically designed without an adjustable noseband, to ensure rub-free comfort!

Would Recommend
Great halterThe horse size fits my Warmblood who is usually near the upper end of fitting into horse-sized items. Paired with the pads, my horse has had no rubs from this muzzle set-up. After 3 months of use it is still in good shape. The slots to secure the muzzle are convenient and I think it purchasing this halter to go with the muzzle was worth it.

Would Recommend
Well fitting.This halter and muzzle were the best combination of the three different models I tried on my two horses. I didn’t try to attach the flexible filly muzzle to a standard halter, but my guess is that it would move around more and have a looser fit than with this halter. This halter was comfortable, lightweight, safe, durable, and easy to get on and off. Only drawback is that it is pretty expensive for a halter!

Fantastic MuzzleOne of the only muzzles our Houdini of a pony can’t get off. It’s a little pricier than other options but holds up well and stays on!

Rubs so fleece is REQUIREDMy horse was rotating her regular (soft) halter and eating out of the side triangle of the muzzle so I decided to try the halter designed to work with the muzzle. I had to tighten the crown of this special halter more than I would without a muzzle to stop the side triangle grazing and it now seems to be working. The edges of the halter are stiff and rubbing/breaking my horse's facial hair and it looks awful. She is a roan so the rub marks are bright white! I have NEVER had a halter rub like this before! I hate to resort to fleece because I dread the possibility of fungal issues developing under it, but I guess that is the next step.

Flexible Filly HalterI like that the halter is good quality, lightweight, and has the slots to keep the muzzle flaps in place. However, the breakaway strap does not work as intended. One of my horses got the halter caught on something and instead of the breakaway piece breaking away, the rings in the halter bent open which released the halter and freed the horse. I had expected that the breakaway strap would break before the rings in the halter. So I bought a thinner breakaway strap from Weaver (I think), and I am hoping it will break before the halter does. I would also prefer that the halter had a way to adjust the size in the jaw area as it is pretty loose in that area and I worry about a horse getting a foot caught in there.

Good quality halter made for the flexible filly grazing muzzle. The slots on the nose band to run ties through are much better than just wrapping around your standard halter. The one thing that takes getting used to is the noseband has no adjustments so it seems big for my pony. My understanding is that is by design to keep the muzzle loose. Now that pony is wearing full time I am seeing some rubs on her cheeks. May need to buy the extra padding.
