Nettles Flatbottom Western Stirrups With Leveler
Overview
Key Features
Key Features
-
Wide FootbedWide Footbed
Stirrups with a wide footbed provide a larger surface area for the rider's foot, helping distribute pressure for improved stability, control, and comfort. This design is popular amongst riders of various disciplines.
-
Extra GripExtra Grip
Stirrups with extra grip or aggressive tread provide added traction to help keep the rider's foot securely in place. This feature is especially useful for riders traveling at speed or jumping, where a steady leg position is essential.
-
Quick Release SystemQuick Release System
Quick-release stirrups are designed to open under pressure, so a rider's foot can disengage during a fall. Some feature a hinged arm that releases from the top or side, while others use an open design where the foot can slip free more easily.
-
Offset/Angeled EyeletOffset/Angeled Eyelet
Stirrups with offset or angled eyelets help riders achieve proper position in the irons. The angled eyelet encourages the foot to turn inward (Ideally, a rider's foot sits at about a 45-degree angle; the outside branch slightly forward and the inside slightly back.) allowing the rider to apply leg aids more effectively.
Weight
Weight
-
Light Weight
Lightweight stirrups (under 1 lb) are favored by riders who prefer lighter tack for performance riding and competitions. A drawback of this weight is that a lost stirrup can be harder to retrieve due to its lighter build.
-
Medium Weight
Midweight stirrups (1-1.5 lbs) offer a balanced feel that many riders prefer for everyday riding and competing. They provide enough weight for easy stirrup retrieval while still keeping tack relatively light.
-
Heavy Weight
Heavyweight stirrups (over 1.5 lbs) are preferred by riders who want maximum stability and easy stirrup retrieval. The added weight helps the stirrups hang in place, making them favored by dressage riders.
The Flatbottom Western Stirrups by Nettles Stirrups With Leveler were designed for comfort, making them a top seller for Nettles.
This all-around stirrup is built slightly wider across the base so your boot fits comfortably on the tread. The slight rise, similar to the arch in a shoe, works to set your feet in the correction position. As a part of the Premier line, the Flatbottoms are made from 6 pieces of laminated oak for extra strength, while the leather used for pin covers and treads guarantees longevity for many years of riding.
Nettles Stirrups are known in the horse world to remove ache from knees and hips. With the inclusion of the 'leveler' option, this handy addition does even more for the body and the ride. The leveler fits the throat of any Nettles Stirrup and removes the slightest stirrup tilt caused by twisted fenders. Because stirrups become unleveled when the fender is twisted, the leveler works to move with the fender, eliminating the twist. This allows the stirrup to be level and move with you as you go about your ride.
