Designed for aggressive use over varying terrain that consists of long-distance riding or other high concussion disciplines. Catered to handle high mileage (about 50-100+ miles) during a single day or over a week, these hoof boots have a low profile design and provide a secure fit to protect hooves from issues caused by increased riding time.
Recreational RidingRecreational Riding
Best for low to mid mileage riding (<25-50 miles a week), these hoof boots are for more casual use. A great replacement if your horse loses a shoe on the trail, while traveling, or at home. An ideal option for the tender-footed horse or as extra protection during light turnout. These are not designed for aggressive or 23/7 use and should not be used in such cases.
TurnoutTurnout
Designed for near-constant 23/7 use to protect hooves during a variety of turnout conditions. A horse is more likely to damage or pull off a hoof boot by playing, chewing, rolling, etc., when turned out at liberty. Regularly take turnout hoof boots off for evaluation and maintenance, and allow them to air out in between uses to help prevent bacteria buildup.
TherapyTherapy
These hoof boots provide the ultimate hoof comfort during medical treatments, stall rest, rehab, or trailering. Aimed to treat a variety of pathological issues to offer relief and concussion support, commonly to lame horses. Therapy hoof boots are not intended for riding or exercise and should not be used in such circumstances.
The Explora Magic Hoof Boots offer unbeatable versatility to keep your horse's hooves protected no matter where your ride takes you.
These lightweight, low-maintenance hoof boots feature fully customizable fitting options, adapting both vertically and horizontally. They can even be thermoformed in the lower half of the boot's wall to adapt to different angles and irregularities if needed. Designed to offer comfort and freedom for your horse, these boots have a soft and breathable padded liner, an active frog that allows for flexibility and connection with the ground, side windows for natural hoof expansion, and an all-terrain sole with drainage holes for use on even those wet trails. In addition, the shape of the sole allows for the pushing force of stepping to fall on the heel area instead of the soft bulb area, supporting natural movement. Available in a variety of colors, the Explora Magic boots can even be coordinated to match your other gear.
Please Note: Due to the nature of hoof boots, which are often put under much tension and strain, Explora Boots returned due to being broken will only be given full store credit. If you experience an issue with a piece breaking, we sell replacement parts for every part of the Explora Boot. Please note that all replacement parts are sold separately, and not included with the purchase of an Explora Hoof Boot. Please contact our helpful customer service via phone or email if you have any questions or concerns!
LOVE these Explora BootsI've been using the Explora hoof boots since September 2024, and they are excellent and still going strong in May 2025. They are easy to adjust, durable, lightweight, great cushion, no rubs, and they stay on. Goodbye scoot boots. I'm a Magic Explora Boot convert.

Great trail bootThis is a great trail boot that absolutely stays on, no matter what the terrain or conditions. That said, it can be hard to get the size correct. The good news is that the return policy and customer service are excellent! So, give them a try.

Great bootsThis would be a 5 star, but one of the boots does twist even after adjusting. However, this only seems to happen at a gallop. Trotting and cantering the boots have been perfectly fine. Also, so far they haven't come off (knock on wood). Have had Scoot Boots and they would come off all the time.

Somewhat disappointingI used Scoot Boots before trying these boots because they were recommended by my trimmer. I have found them harder to fit than Scoot Boots and harder to fasten properly. They are bulkier than I thought.

Perfect for our riding needs!I have a mule who has absolutely amazing feet and generally speaking, does not need shoes or boots for our average ride. This year we have several big riding trips planned though, some of which will include riding in very rocky areas, through creeks, on wet rocky areas at the base of waterfalls, and generally speaking, slicker terrain than we regularly ride on.
I didn't want to put shoes on him unless absolutely necessary. I was finding myself struggling to find the right boots for my tiny toes goofball until I stumbled across Explora Magic boots. Unfortunately I don't have endless resources to just dumped a fortune into countless boots to find the right one but feel like I hit the jackpot with Explora due to the adjustability factor. I will say, they were a bit of a bear to get all of the adjustments just right, but once we did, they are very straightforward to put on and take off. We have such a custom fit that I didn't feel the need to "over tighten" any of the straps.
We took them for a spin this past Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised. I lunged him first and let's just say there is a reason we lunged first as he's just started cantering/loping with saddlebags. The "flapping" on the bags caused a bit of a bronc fest. Despite repeated bucking and acting crazy, the boots stayed on. We then went on a 10+ mile trail ride. Through deep sand, through creeks, mud/clay, on asphalt, rocky areas etc and they did wonderfully! No twisting. NO RUBBING! They were as good as I could have imagined plus some! So here I am, back to order a pair for his back hooves!

Explora Magic Hoof BootsBought two pair of the Explora Magic Hoof Boots. The fit is very snug as it is supposed to be, so it’s a little hard to put them on. Took a short trail ride and so far, no rubbing. I like them, and am happy I ordered them. Yes, I would recommend them.

New Favorite BootI have purchased and used just about every hoof boot on the market but these are my new favorites. I will admit that it took two tries to get the right size (minor measuring error) and that they are a bit tricky to get on, but oh are they ever worth the effort. I have learned that it’s best to undo both side straps and the front one to get them on. I have my gelding “stub” his toe a couple of times, then walk forward a couple steps to get the boot seated and then - magic! They don’t twist or rub and my thin soled OTTB was doing a gorgeous extended trot and gallop in them on day 1. He is so confident in these boots. No tripping or slipping. I use them in my sand arena and on the trail and gravel roads. Finally a perfect boot!

Excellent boot!I have these Explora Magic boots for my Arab who has fairly large feet with a low heel, and also for my gaited mare, who has tiny feet with a rather high heel. They stay on great for both of them. I love that they are adjustable and easy to get on and off. No velcro to lose stickiness in sand, mud or water, and no cables to break! The only thing I don’t like is the diamond shaped straps. They are much harder to get snug than the smooth ones. Most of my Exploras have smooth straps, but I bought 1 used boot from a friend that had the diamond strap. I’m not sure if it is an option or if that was just an older model. I used to use Renegades and Scoot Boots. These are amazing boots and I highly recommend them!

Great boots! My horse has long toes, low heels, and narrow feet, and despite these boots not fitting perfectly because of that, they still stay on well and don’t twist and rub. I rode through ankle deep mud and they stayed put. I've walked and trotted (haven’t loped yet wearing them) and he’s very comfortable.

Comments: Took a bit to get the right size but once I did, I am VERY happy with them It is not exactly easy to put on snug. I am 59, but once on all good. Ordering the hinds next!! From: Anne- Auburn, Alabama, USA
Comments: I have been an Easyboot Glove Gal for a long time. But I now have a lovely young mare who is High/Low in the front and just crooked in the back (which will hopefully straighten as she fills out). I have tried Gloves, Renegades, and Flex Hoof boots. Had an issue with each one- they either twisted or came off. Out of desperation, I tried the Explora Hoof boots- a pricey venture if they don't work as all of the others. These boots are top-notch! They have a flexible shell like a Glove, a more sturdy sole like a Renegade, but with a more flexible heel area. They have a few ways to make adjustments to the height/length. Fairly easy to get on. And most importantly- THEY STAYED ON!!! I did a few trial rides at home and then a 30-mile endurance ride. There was mud, but they stayed on. They are the first boots that I can canter this mare in without one turning or coming off. I'm thrilled with them!! Highly recommend!! From: Kerri- Penn Yan, NY, USA
Comments: My boy fit in the size 2 rather snuggly but the 3's looked too big. We went with the 2's. They are a little tough to get on due to the snug fit but the RW video showed her walking her gelding around to seat the boots. That seemed to work great. I struggled a little with attaching the side strap rubber thingies on the posts but think it will get easier as things stretch out and my coordination gets smoother. The adjustments were easier than it looked. Yesterday I went for an 8.5 mile ride with a couple young friends that liked to yeehaw up hills..what a great way to test boots! The boots didn't budge and I had the side straps and the fetlock straps really loose. If they didn't come off while galloping madly up a hill, they probably won't come off. No rubs on this quick 8.5 mile ride, either. So far two thumbs up! (PS I am a die-hard EasyBoot Gloves fan but thought I would give these a shot since they don't have any velcro to wear out and collect stickers). From: Sally- Star, ID
Comments: I have had my share of hoof boots over the years, and have used 6 different brands. I cannot tell you how many I've lost on trail rides in mud. I have had luck with boots on regular terrain, but thick sucking mud is the worst to come across on a trail. I always have to worry about losing a boot or trying to go around it. I bought these boots for a trail ride to Uwharrie National Forest in NC recently. NC has had a very wet winter and spring and the trails were spotty with watery, thick mud. These boots were the bomb diggity!! After the first day of riding, I barely glanced at my horse's feet for the rest of the weekend. These boots held on knee-deep mud, deep rocky streams, rocky hill climbs/descends, and slick trails. LOVE THEM!! From: Sandee - North Carolina, USA
Comments: Explora Magic Boots are two thumbs up from me and 4 hooves up from my paint mare Tilly. We trotted, we turned, we went thru sand, we cantered, we did technical rocks and I didn’t have to get off once!!! The boots stayed ON and when we got to the trailer not a rub at all!!! 12 tough, fast and slow miles of various terrain. Happy campers both of us. Yes they look COMPLICATED but aren’t. I set all the adjustments to the middle settings and then they pop on and off like some other brands with just one strap which easily fastens. Did I mention they stayed ON!!! I’m a huge fan! From: Christina - USA
Comments: I've tried many boots for my horse with more upright heels and dorsal hoof wall, without a good fit. I LOVE these, they fit without rubbing or twisting. They are so adjustable. Tech support at info@explorahorseboots.com was EXCELLENT. I sent them pics and they gave me advice and feedback on how to adjust straps. Once adjusted, they are easy to put on (not as easy as some other brands, but still OK). Make sure the hoof measurements are within the limits for your size. Just ordered a second pair!
