Key Features
-
Non-ToxicNon-Toxic
Bits that are made from non-toxic materials, unlike most plastics, rubbers, and metals, are a safer option for horses who need a gentler bit.
-
Increased PalatabilityIncreased Palatability
Bits that increase palatability often incorporate sweet metals (such as copper and iron) or flavored plastics which encourage the horse to salivate, relax their jaw, and accept the bit. They may be inlaid into the bars, be the roller or lozenge, or make up the entire bar.
-
Leverage PressureLeverage Pressure
These bits use indirect pressure that multiplies the amount of force exerted on the horse's mouth, nose, or poll. They are used by riders who have little to no contact or are looking for more finesse and control.
-
Direct PressureDirect Pressure
Bits that use direct pressure have a 1:1 ratio where the pressure exerted on the reins will be the same pressure felt in the mouth. They are used by riders who often have contact with their horse's mouth.
Designed to be used on a double bridle, the Centaur Weymouth Sliding Cheeks Curb Bit provides additional leverage and finesse that the horse requires to progress in their Dressage career! The unjointed mouthpiece with curb action asserts downward poll pressure and encourages the neck to arch forward, down, and out with subtle cues. The 8cm sliding cheeks provide minimal gag action, aiding to elevate your horse's poll to promote proper engagement and carriage. A traditional Weymouth only has curb action, this bit improves upon the design to counteract the horse's normal tendency to fall behind the vertical.
The Weymouth should be used once the horse goes well in the snaffle and needs his forward impulsion controlled using curb action. The Bradoon, a thinner snaffle bit, is added on the extra cheekpiece of the double bridle to encourage flexion, whereas the Weymouth aids in leverage action. Constructed from lost wax cast and hand polished from high grade 18/8 stainless steel, this bit will last a lifetime!

Previous Feedback
Comments: The sliding cheeks seemed like a wonderful idea so the bit wouldn't be completely fixed, but they pinched my horses fleshy lips.
