Key Features

  • Non-ToxicNon-Toxic

Bits that are made from non-toxic materials, unlike most plastics, rubbers, and metals, are a safer option for horses who need a gentler bit.

  • Increased PalatabilityIncreased Palatability

Bits that increase palatability often incorporate sweet metals (such as copper and iron) or flavored plastics which encourage the horse to salivate, relax their jaw, and accept the bit. They may be inlaid into the bars, be the roller or lozenge, or make up the entire bar.

  • Leverage PressureLeverage Pressure

These bits use indirect pressure that multiplies the amount of force exerted on the horse's mouth, nose, or poll. They are used by riders who have little to no contact or are looking for more finesse and control.

  • Direct PressureDirect Pressure

Bits that use direct pressure have a 1:1 ratio where the pressure exerted on the reins will be the same pressure felt in the mouth. They are used by riders who often have contact with their horse's mouth.

The Acavallo Wave Sensitive Bit is an excellent alternative to cold and heavy metal bits. Constructed of innovative, hypoallergenic plastic material over an integrated, flexible steel cable reinforcement, this bit allows for consistent communication with the horse. The solid mouthpiece ensures even contact between the tongue, bars, and lips. The non-jointed, design prevents pinching and palate irritation while the addition of waves throughout discourages leaning, making it a good choice for stronger young horses or those in need of retraining.

Additional Information

Acavallo Bit Benefits:

  • Innovative bit made of a newly developed anti-allergic plastic material instead of a heavy and/or cold metal alloy.
  • Due to its integrated, flexible steel cable reinforcement, this bit provides for a soft, yet very secure control of the horse.
  • The one-piece design of mouthpiece and rings, the bit prevents a one-sided squeezing or pinching of the tongue, as well as painful irritation of the palate.
  • The new design, featuring a multitude of small "waves", is a real aid when working horses with hardened or sensitive mouths.
  • Due to the Wave Design of the mouthpiece, horses learn not to push in to or lean on the bit.
  • Enhances the confidence of the horse in the rider's hand because of its quiet and comfortable positioning in the mouth, helping the horse to find its ideal balance under the rider.
  • An ideal choice especially for the schooling of stronger, young horses and the correction/retraining of difficult horses.

Works For UsThis bit will not last forever, but I am totally ok with buying a new one. It works perfectly for us. No more head shaking, no more fights, and I can control the speed of my really forward mare even during an Endurance competition which is surprising. It requires going back to the basics: the release and the use of the body as a communication tool.
