About Kask Helmets

Based in Italy, Kask produces helmets to meet the needs of the world's top athletes. Their dedication to functionality, safety, and attractive design shines through in every helmet, whether created for skiing, cycling, mountaineering, rescue, or horseback riding of course! Kask's team of expert engineers and market-leading factories constantly seek to improve their helmets to ensure you are receiving the highest level of protection with the lightest possible mass, for the ultimate comfort and safety.

Kask Helmet Safety

Kask refuses to compromise when it comes to quality and safety. Each design is proprietary and protected by multiple patents as the result of many carefully monitored tests and innovative technologies. Made 100% in Italy, your Kask helmet meets the following safety standards:

ASTM & CE VG1 Safety Standards

CE VG1 01.040 2014-12 is a European standard put together by a technical committee comprised of representatives from countries in the EU. In addition to impact, retention, and visor tests, these safety standards demand that helmets withstand penetration and crushing.

ASTM F1163-15 with SEI MARK is the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), which writes safety standards for many of the products that we come in contact with on a daily basis. Once those standards are in place, an independent testing laboratory called the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) ensures that each helmet design is up to par. An ASTM/SEI certification is required by many equestrian associations, such as the United States Pony Club and the United States Equestrian Federation.

Rotational Impact WG11 Testing

The Kask Rotational Impact WG11 Test is an internal protocol to measure the performance of Kask's helmets against rotational impacts. This test measures the Brain Injury Criteria (BrlC), which is an algorithm that defines the typical level of brain injury in an impact. This value must be lower than .68 to pass the test, and Kask helmets are never above .39 in BrlC value.

This independent lab-tested safety protocol challenges the industry and surpasses the highest standards. See the video below for a first-hand look at the WG11 Test in action.

Kask Helmet Models

Since Kask develops helmets for applications other than just riding, they utilize technologies unlike anything else you might see on the equestrian market. High-performance ventilation, a superior fit, and top-quality materials are present in each style. In order to provide options for both showing and schooling, Kask has created the Star Lady and Kooki helmets to meet every rider's needs.

Kask Star Lady Hunter Helmet:

Specifically designed for sun protection, the Star Lady adds the touch of elegance every equestrian is searching for. As with all Kask helmets, we like that the brand incorporates thoughtful details that are not only aesthetically pleasing but enhance the comfort of the helmet as well. For example, two large honeycomb aeration grids and a 100% Merino wool liner are designed to keep your head cool, while the subtle fit system ensures the helmet perfectly fits the wearer by gently cradling the back of the head. A redesigned chin strap made of soft eco-leather is certain to look and feel great at home or away!

Kask Kooki & Kooki Lady Helmets:

The Kask Kooki Helmets are where everyday charm meets safety and comfort. We appreciate that Kask made a lower price point helmet so more equestrians can enjoy the amenities the brand has to offer. Depending on your preference, the Kooki is designed with a traditional brim while the Kooki Lady has a wide brim to offer more sun protection. Both are crafted with front and rear ventilation to ensure optimal breathability and are equipped with Kask's integrated fit system for a perfect fit. A click-in liner system makes it easy to always ride with a fresh-feeling helmet!

Kask Helmet Sizing

The size of Kask helmets corresponds to the circumference of your head. Use a soft tape measure positioned just above the ears, then take note of the measurement in centimeters. Compare this number to the sizing chart below. For step-by-step instructions on getting the perfect fit for your helmet, be sure to visit our how to fit a riding helmet guide.

Shell Size CM IN
1 53 6 5/8
54 6 3/4
55 6 7/8
56 7
2 57 7 1/8
58 7 1/4
59 7 3/8
3 60 7 1/2
61 7 5/8
62 7 3/4
63 7 7/8

After you've received your helmet, use these tips to ensure maximum safety and comfort:

  • Put the helmet on and wear it for a few minutes to see if it fits well, or alternatively, if it causes pain in a particular place.
  • Simulate the movement of riding. The helmet should be comfortable but not move.
  • Once fastened, the chin strap should be tight enough to prevent movement of the helmet in the event of a fall.
  • Always check the safety and comfort of your helmet!

Kask Helmet Care, Lifespan, & Replacement

All Kask helmet liners are removable and machine-washable for hygiene and comfort. Additional liners are available for replacement purposes, as well as to adjust the size of your helmet. Each helmet's lifespan depends on various factors, including sudden temperature changes, prolonged exposure to sunlight, and the intensity of use. Check your helmet regularly for damage, such as: cracks, warping, flaking, color changes, and detached parts. In any case, Kask recommends replacing your helmet after ten years.

It is recommended that you replace your helmet in the event of a violent impact, even if no damage is visible, as its ability to absorb future impacts may be compromised. In these situations, Kask offers a Crash Replacement Policy, which allows for a discount toward the purchase of one new Kask equestrian helmet for up to 24 months from the date of purchase.
