Overview
Product Description
The Stillwater Mohair Dressage Girth is hand-made in the USA from therapeutic, all-natural, 100% Mohair to provide unbeatable comfort for your horse as well as ensure the security of the saddle and rider.
Mohair, sheared from Angora goats, is one of the strongest, softest, and most manageable of fibers to create a very durable and beautiful girth. Bettering the benefits of natural wool, Mohair prevents cinch sores and sweat galling, releases heat and wicks moisture -- all while drying incredibly quickly, and maintaining its strength and appearance over many years of use.
Single layers of Mohair are twisted into 14 individual strands with minimal tie breaks and consistent tensile strength. Stillwater girths are all hand-tied to maintain the correct length during use; each girth is made individually to ensure perfect function as well as beauty. Though the corded design of Mohair does not stretch like elastic, the natural flexibility of the Mohair material itself allows you to cinch up tight without inhibiting your horse's breathing. The individual flexibility of each cord allows complete freedom of movement for your horse, all the while keeping your saddle snug and secure.
Beveled and reinforced Stainless Steel Roller Buckles and Center D-Rings are woven into the girth to provide a smooth and comfortable finish against your horse and will not rust with exposure to moisture. Roller Buckles measure 1.25" in width to accommodate standard Dressage saddle billets. Durable nylon billet keepers and a neoprene/leather buckle backing add convenient practicality to this stylish girth!

Comments: This is the best mohair girth I have found. The leather is soft and prevents rubbing; it is the perfect size and doesn't get in the way. The girth holds its length well hasn't stretched out, as I've found with some other girths. It is very breathable and conforms to your horses contour and moves with them, which helps prevent rubbing. The 100% mohair is wonderful for horses with thin or sensitive skin, like my Arabians. On my recommendation, several of my friends have purchased this girth, two who have had issues with their horse galling, and they are very happy with it as well.

Comments: This is a most amazing girth! My pony has a lot of movement, and this is the only girth - and I feel like I tried them all - that has never galled him. I've used it for a few years now, and it has maintained its shape and softness through some very sweaty summers. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Comments: I love them! I love the protective leather/neoprene buckle shield! They wash up so well with woolite. My little Arab has battled girth galls since I have had him. All that changed with the mohair girth. Will never go back to leather!

Comments: I'm active in NATRC Competitive Trail and also distance pleasure ride. My favorite girth is the Stillwater Cinch mohair dressage girth. It is perfect for my english billeted endurance saddles. Easy to clean, has elastic, stainless steel, and nice protective shields under buckles. I love this girth!

Comments: I purchased this girth for a horse who is very prone to girth galls due to his shape and sensitive skin. The mohair girth is soft and very well made. The string conforms well to his body and has not rubbed him at all. It seems very comfortable. I have tried it on a second horse that is fine in her current girth and it works well for her too. I notice that both horses sweat less and that the hair under the girth seems much less disturbed than from even a very nice leather girth. There is enough stretch in the cord/shape that it is only a little bit harder to tighten than a girth with elastic. As someone who will not use a leather girth without elastic at both ends, I'm pretty sensitive to that, and yet, I'm totally happy with this girth. The padding behind the buckles does its job well. Because the girth has no elastic and because there's no element of the girth much past the buckles, when in doubt I'd order up a size, which will also get the ends up as far away from the elbows as possible. That said, this girth goes on the same billet holes as the double-elastic leather girth of the same size. I would definitely recommend it, and I won't hesitate to show in it, either. The horses seem to like it, too.

Comments: I've had this girth for 3-4 years now and love it more every day! Doesn't cause sores on my sensitive TB, easy to clean, and holds up to daily use. Compared to other mohair girths I've seen, it's construction is superior with the neoprene/leather backers. I'm purchasing an endurance style to fit my new endurance saddle. Highly recommend this girth!

Comments: I am very pleased with the quality of the girth so far and think it looks attractive and unobtrusive with a dressage saddle. The mohair strings have nice even tensions (I've seen cheap western girths where some strings looked loose and loopy.) It does a good job whisking away moisture (the horse's old neoprene waffle girth would be sweaty, hairy, and gross when I removed it.) The roller buckles are sturdy and easy to adjust from in the saddle. The only thing that could be improved is that the neoprene covers for the buckle are a little bigger than they need to be to cover the buckle area. The belly under the strings is completely dry but there are 2 big sweaty patches under the buckle covers.

Comments: Bought one of these as a comparison to the Montana Cincha. The Stillwater is not nearly as soft. After a ride this one feels rather crusty where the Montana stays soft. I recommend spending the extra few dollars for the Montana.

Comments: I bought this girth for a horse that has a problem with galls. It worked fine for a few days but on day 4 she ended up with a big gall next to the billet keeper. This area is too rough. The mohair is wonderful and did not rub her at all. The design of the second set of billet keepers did not work for my mare.
