Weaver® and Justin Dunn worked closely to design a gentle and effective bridle that improves communication between horse and rider by asking the horse to respond to pressure instead of force. A noseband constructed of rope with two strategically placed knots encourages the horse to give in to pressure and seek release.

This durable, weather-resistant leather bridle is designed to withstand the cowboy lifestyle- complete with non-rust stainless steel cart buckles at the cheeks and sturdy leather, this bridle looks and performs its best. The classic black color is dipped in oil, dressed with saddle butter, and hand rubbed for an exceptional feel.

Works well with added jowl strapI'm happy with the Justin Dunn Bitless Bridle. I tried other sidepulls with flat nosebands, but I felt like I had to use a lot of pressure or place the noseband too low on the nose for my horse to respond. The rope noseband with the side knots has enough "bite" so that my horse responds with light pressure. It is soft enough that it doesn't abrade his skin when no pressure is applied. As noted in other reviews of Justin Dunn sidepulls, the buckles can get too close to the eyes. Fortunately, this sidepull has 2 buckles, so I made a jowl strap with a slim cord tied to each buckle. This has worked quite well to keep the sidepull from twisting from side to side. I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because the black dye is hit and miss. This is on the inside of the straps, so it's not visible and was not enough of a defect for me to return this. Also, with the leather side straps holding the noseband in place, the "look" of this bitless bridle is a bit clunky compared to traditional headstalls. But the functionality, with the added jowl strap, and seeming comfort to my horse were more important to me.
