Overview

Promote a more natural feeding experience for your favorite equine pal with the Tough-1 Slow Feed Double Sided Web Hay Net! Certain to slow down horses who tend to inhale their food, this webbed hay bag is constructed from one-inch webbing with small 2" by 2" openings that effectively reduce the speed with which horses eat as well as reducing waste. A plastic frame-in webbing allows hay to be loaded easily while the adjustable hanging straps with snaps ensure that the top of the hay net stays closed so crafty horses can't steal any hay from the top. The addition of straps on the lower back allows this hay bag to be securely attached to a stall, trailer, or anything in-between to prevent spinning or an unsafe position.

Key Features

Functional hay netThis hay net is sturdy and large enough to fit the two flakes of hay my horse gets at each meal. The extra strap to anchor the bag and keep my horse from tossing it around is nice. The only downfall of this bag is that it doesn't come with anything to close the top of the bag. My sneaky horse likes to eat out of the top. We had to be creative to close it on her.

Great qualityI had the small version of this hay net for several years. I wanted something larger, but unfortunately this was too large. Still, you can’t beat the quality; it doesn’t fall apart no matter how much your horse tugs on it. Highly recommend.

Seems durableI hate hay nets. I hate trying to find the opening and flat out dealing with them so I looked at Tough 1's folding fill-able hay net. After much review, I decided maybe that wouldn't work for me but I thought maybe the web hay net would be better. So I gave this a try. I got 2. One for each horse that uses these. I wound up making a board across the wall and hanging it by all three straps. I put the strap loop through the back metal loops on the net then threw the straps over the board, reconnecting the buckle to the back strap buckle. Then, once filled, snapped the front metal loops into each of the matching back buckles. Only thing, the one clip already came where it opens then doesn't want to close. I'll use it while it works then replace it. Whole lot better to fill than the nets if you can find the easiest way to do it. I leave it hanging and just unsnap the front clips until full and re-snap shut. Only other problem, I get the large 600-650 lb bales and weight out 10lb morning and night. Even with stuffing the hay down in the net it barely wants to snap shut. I don't know how regular flakes would work out of normal bales, but loose hay get pretty hard to pack down in there and can be a pain to snap shut. The net material itself seems durable and well-made. And I believe I got it here because it was the best price. Overall, I'm happy with it. For my purposes it could stand to be a little bit bigger. I also use the bottom strap for the middle hooks on the top of the net, otherwise the horse can eat out the top, defeating the purpose of slow feeding. Plus, I was afraid mine would get their head stuck in the straps and tear the whole mess apart. But if you're sick of dealing with the floppy hay nets, I'd give this a try. I still use the hay nets in the trailer though. Not sure how these would do especially in my trailer.

Good idea, poorly executedSnaps are cheap and break easily. Easy to load but seems like it was missing a clip to keep the net closed once loaded with hay.

Tough 1 Large Slow Feeder Hay NetThis is a very well-made product. The straps provided keep the net in place, preventing horses from flipping the net. The number of ways to attach the net to a fence or trailer tie is such a plus!

SUPERIOR HAY BAGSThese are extremely 'heavy-duty', very sturdy, with functionally placed handles, a large opening, and hold a lot of hay. I place them into a stock tank I drilled in metal holders into with carabiner hooks, and they stay where they are with large and small horses. From here on forward will only be getting these kinds.

Comments: LOVE THESE! Large enough to put enough hay in it for our Friesian but still lightweight and durable to put up with one of our fjord mares who is rough on things LOL. MUCH easier to fill than a hay net. Most of my horses still have a bit of hay left when I feed them their next feeding (2x a day) so they are clearly lasting them long enough to not get hangry.

Comments: These are THE BEST hay nets! My horses can't rip them! They are strong and durable but very easy to put hay into. They have cut down on our hay waste and they are a perfect size. I can stuff about 4 large flakes into each one. Thanks!

Comments: Not sure why anyone would pay more than twice for a similar product - these are wonderful. Durable, large enough to fit at least 2-3 big flakes, easy to fill, and come with useful straps for closing/hanging. Bonus: the straps work great if you want to wind them around the opening to close off and put on the ground as a "hay pillow"-type feeder instead of hanging (for barefoot horses only, obviously). Love these hay nets.

Comments: Thrilled to see these at RW! I bought these hay bags from a different retailer, about 10 years ago! They are still holding up! I've bought others throughout the years to "try" and have thrown them away because they weren't as durable. I originally purchased 3 of these and I have one that is starting to rip through. The d-rings will eventually wear through in some spots but I have zero complaints. 5 stars all the way for this hay bag!
