Triple thick fleece adds a third layer of 1" fleece in the center of the pad - under the bars of your saddle, giving you additional concussion protection for your horse's back. On each side, beyond the triple thick fleece, there are two layers of fleece to create less bulk under your legs.

Comments: This pad is wonderful! Before getting it, I rode in a simple thin English pad, but I wanted to improve comfort for my horse and possibly find something that could help her cool down a little as well in these summer months, so I decided to give it a go. I had no idea how much of a difference it would make as far as the concussion and impact while cantering. I had gotten so used to my mare's choppy bumpy canter that I never imagined a little extra cushion would make such a huge difference, but this definitely does. From the first time we cantered with it, it felt like we were gliding in comparison. I highly recommend this pad to any English rider. It has made me and my horse very happy!

Comments: What a difference an inch makes! First of all, my saddle fits my horse well, so I wasn't looking for a corrective pad. I was looking for something to make it feel cushy and soft on his back. I tried the ultra cell, too bulky and thick. Tried another type of insert pad also, hated it. Tried the Thinline, and sent that back, too (did I mention that I LOVE the RW return policy and free shipping both ways? :) I own a gorgeous 100 % wool fleece pad that I love, but I hate to use it because it's a beast to keep clean and takes ages to dry when washed and then needs fluffing (my Pomeranian is easier to bathe and groom than that dang pad).
I already was using the regular Toklat Coolback pads (two layers), and liked them, just didn't feel there was enough padding for long days in the saddle (clinics, schooling shows, etc.). So on a whim I ordered the triple thick pad. A. Mazing! (cue the angels singing) It's only thick where you need it, and my horse loves the extra padding. Washing is a cinch (you can't throw those Coolbacks in the washer and drier enough. They love it)! Now I don't even want to use my regular Coolback pads, and all my other pads are collecting dust on a shelf.
One caveat (which I don't mind at all) is that once you hop up in the saddle you will need to tighten your girth up a notch for safety. All that squishiness settles down, and what was once tight is now quite loose. Well worth the bother, I think.

Comments: Wonderful pad! After four hours of walking, trotting, and cantering on rough trails, my horse exhibited no soreness. The ease of throwing it in the washing machine and dryer would make this pad a winner even without the wonderful cushiness and shock absorption.
