Product Details
Ingredients: Mineral oil, sulfur, zinc stearate, glycerin, cade oil & essential oils for fragrance.
Directions for Use: Shake bottle prior to use. For skin problems and rubbing, wash area, then apply M-T-G and leave in. For prevention, apply M-T-G on a weekly basis.
For tail growth, apply M-T-G lightly to tail bone and work through tail. Apply M-T-G on a weekly basis.
For mane growth, apply lightly to base of mane and leave in. Apply M-T-G on a weekly basis.
For mane & tail conditioning & detangling, apply M-T-G lightly to mane & tail and work through. Leave overnight, then wash out.

Comments: This stuff is ¨MAGIC¨, and I really do mean magic. My horse has a problem of rubbing his tail out, to the point where it was a raw and open wound. After we healed it we tried everything for the hair to grow back and it did, just really really slowly. And then he rubbed it out again. My friend highly recommended this to me and so I decided to try it and I love it. I cannot say enough good things about it. My horse's tail is growing out and I've been using it for probably less than a month. It works so well. If you need mane/tail growing stuff, this is what you should use. It is also great on skin conditions like scratches. My friend's horse had a terrible case of scratches and one application of the MTG oil, the next day they were almost completely gone. Like I said, magic. Although be warned: the smell, is very strong of bacon grease. I didn't really detect a bunch of difference in the MTG and the MTG Plus, but it works so well I don't even care anymore. I still cannot recommend it enough.

Comments: Sadly my Friesian had a bad reaction to the MTG that resulted in extreme swelling and edema everywhere I applied it and it was very difficult to wash off. Be sure to test a spot on your horses, before applying liberally.

Comments: I bought this to try to grow my horse's mane. This is the same old multipurpose "tried and true" MTG formula, but the "PLUS" means that it's supposed to smell nicer than the signature bacon-y smell of original Shapley's MTG. Unfortunately, I can't detect much of a difference in fragrance at all, I don't notice any difference in hair growth, and this stuff makes his mane so oily, dust sticks to it when he's turned out. I imagine it would work well for anything you're already using MTG for, though I don't know why you'd pay more for the same smell!

Shapley's Response: Thank you for allowing us an opportunity to reply! As we all know, we can’t make everyone happy but it is nice to be able to explain. This is how I would answer. We are sorry that you were not able to experience the great results that most do with Original M-T-G and Original M-T-G plus. The Original M-T-G plus does have the additional fragrance that works two ways: First, it is supposed to make the “distinctive” aroma of Original M-T-G better and second, it helps dissipate the lingering effects on the hands. Everyone has a different level of smell sensitivity, especially to one of the key ingredients in Original M-T-G. You may be one of these individuals, so there would be no reason to pay extra for the Original M-T-G plus. Both formulas have the same efficacy.
In regards to the mane growth, I would like to give a few helpful hints when using Original M-T-G. Our mantra at Shapley’s is “a little goes a LONG way!” When applying it to the mane for growth, use a very small amount just along the base of the mane where growth occurs. If you find that the mane is collecting dust, I would place a few drops on my fingertips and rub it into one area on the base of the mane. Repeat until you have covered the entire neckline. This will allow the Original M-T-G to be applied to the needed area without having it seep down the mane making the mane oily. It is an oil based product so it will collect dust if too much is applied. Also for mane growth, apply it once a week. This will provide the maximum growth for the horse. Horses, just like humans, have different growth rates and length and fullness based on many factors.
