Customer Reviews
Good design overall; bit stability key for TBMy OTTB is very sensitive to the bridle and bit. He actually liked the Micklem better, but I couldn't get it to fit correctly. The Alpha has the chin strap attached to the curved cavesson cheek strap such that it keeps the bridle off the cheekbones. Therefore a better design in my humble opinion, at least for my horse in particular. He goes more softly in this bridle than a typical one. Having more stability in the bit with the direct attachment to the curved cavesson cheekpiece makes a huge difference for my boy. Surprisingly, the flash strap is a bit loose, even on the smallest hole in the cob. This is an unusual fit, but easily remedied with a hole puncher.
My disappointment is that the cheekpieces are very, very difficult to adjust the length of with the button rivets. That was the key to a good fit for him to make sure the bridle is off the cheekbones. The other is the attachment of the flash strap to the noseband is bulky in the noseband. The Micklem avoids this by attaching them to the outside of the noseband via metal rings. Overall, this was the better fit for my horse.
Provides comfort for my sensitive 4 year oldLove it! Beautiful soft leather and my sensitive 4-year-old loves it! Gives tons of comfort around the ears and takes the pressure off of important nerve endings so we have a nice ride every time.
Dangerously low qualityI've been riding for twenty years and I've never had a bridle this expensive be such poor quality. In just a few months, the stitching of the flash fell apart and one of the screws that held the noseband to a cheekpiece became stripped and detached entirely. The manufacturer sent a replacement noseband, but that one snapped just a few uses after I'd finished generously oiling it enough. I'm very lucky I wasn't riding while these broke. Low-quality leather, hardware, and stitching. Absolute buyer's remorse.
