Sam Maloigne, a professional international motocross/supercross rider turned horseback rider, saw a need in the equestrian industry for technical helmets that still fit the goal of an elegant appearance. He decided to launch a project to create a riding helmet that could offer riders safety, ultimate comfort, and high quality materials with personalization. From these ideals, the Samshield brand was born.
