Some horses are acutely sensitive to oral electrolytes and might develop an irritable stomach or mouth, indicated by aversion to administration, excess salivation, and/or visible mouth ulcers.

Electrolytes
Sodium Chloride (Salt) – The #1 ingredient in any effective electrolyte solution, and the primary ingredient supplied in MetaLyte. Salt drives your horse’s thirst center to regain hydration after loss of fluids during intense exercise.
Potassium Chloride – The second most important ingredient for effective electrolyte balance, Potassium Chloride is essential in maintaining the balance of hydration. As Sodium Chloride is lost through sweat production, the positive ions of Potassium are stimulated to fill the void, and are subsequently lost.
