Product Details

Design & Function:

The NibbleNet® Hay Bag is an excellent choice for horses suffering from feed-related health issues, such as laminitis or obesity. The structure of the poly webbing grid prevents horses from gulping down big mouthfuls and instead encourages one-bite-at-a-time eating. Slowing the "grazing" down optimizes digestion and keeps the horse busy for much longer, preventing boredom and the development of bad habits such as chewing or cribbing -- an ideal solution for horses that do not have much turn out time.

A heavy-duty poly webbing strap is included with each bag, and additional NibbleNet® Straps can be purchased if necessary. Two sets of heavy duty stainless steel D-rings make hanging the back from a wall or fence easy while also allowing easy and secure closure of the top, preventing the horse from pulling hay from the top. Additional D-Rings at the bottom corners allow for additional attachment or security along a fence or in a trailer.

Materials & Construction:

The undeniable quality of construction and heavy duty outdoor materials make the NibbleNet® far superior to any similar hay bags on the market. The back and sides are constructed from ultra heavy duty 22 ounce vinyl designed to stand up to harsh elements. With superior tear, puncture and abrasion resistance, this material also boasts excellent UV and weather protection with a -40 degree rating!

The exclusive 1.5" poly webbing grid is custom-woven to ensure ultimate strength without sacrificing flexibility - this webbing will not get stiff or hard even after years of use. A tight weave resists dirt and moisture absorption, keeping the material free of rot or mildew and prevents shrinking or stretching. Commercial glue and additional stitching reinforcements ensure longevity, even against the toughest of horses!

Comments: Have had my NibbleNet for several months now. It is holding up well in spite of my aggressive eater. He attacks his food; not just eats it. This bag has slowed him down considerably and he doesn't get that big hay belly from gobbling all his hay down at once.  I take it with me to NATRC competitive trail rides where I choose to tie my horse to the trailer. The bag lays nice and flat against the trailer.  The only suggestion I have for the manufacturer is to find an easier way to close the top of each end of the bag. Fishing the nylon strap through the double rings is very difficult for those with arthritic fingers. Also, our fingers do not have much strength for squeezing the prong of the plastic snaps one finds on so many horse gear items. Maybe the stainless steel metal twist hooks found on horse blankets would work.  And it is MADE in the USA!

Comments: I am a big believer in slow feeder. I have one extra large slow feeder, but needed to add a second. This one is comparable in price to my other, but they both have pros and cons. My other bag is easier to fill, but the horses can stick their head down in the bag part way and eat freely for the first little while. The Nibblenet closes up securely, so the horse has to eat through the net.  It also has a strap that secures the bag in place by  attaching it to both the top and bottom of the fence, making it impossible to toss over the stall. I've only had it a couple months, but it is holding up well. I would definitely recommend it.

Comments: My horse seems to be aggressive with every slow feeders I have tried. They didn't seem to last long at all. I decided to order two Nibble Nets hay bags from Riding Warehouse because I had heard so many good things about them. WOW! After only a few weeks my horse has shown a lot less aggression toward the hay nets, more than likely due to less frustration. The Nibble Nets also seem to be holding up very well and show no signs of weakness. I also like the fact that two nibble nets filled with about 20 Lbs of hay each last him well over 24 hours. A real time saver.

Comments: I have a nibble net and have had it for five years.  This is a great product as it keeps the hay from being wasted by keeping it in the bag and not spread all over the ground.  The horses eat easily from it and it keeps them busy longer.  It's very durable as I've had mine a long time and it's in good condition with just a little wear.  The rings and snaps are the originals.  A good product at a good price.

Comments: I ordered two of the NibbleNet 1.5 inch opening bags after reading about the benefit of slow feeding.  I checked into multiple product versions and decided on these.  They are made in the USA (yea!); can hold a large volume of hay; and have a sturdy construction.  One of my horses whizzes through his hay ration and that ends up upsetting his digestive system. So, I now feed him three smaller portions a day--it takes him longer to eat each serving--but he ends up eating the same amount of hay each day. The first time I fed him with a bag I pulled some hay through a few holes, and he quickly figured out how to get it himself.  After the first feeding I no longer put extra loose hay out for him.  Filling the bag with hay flakes is very simple--just lay it on the bale or a flat surface, pick up a flake or few, and slide them in.  I feed mixed grass hay from a round bale, so it is a bit more of a chore to stuff loose hay into the bag, but definitely doable.  It's a work-in-progress on my technique!  So, all-in-all, I highly recommend this well-made product and suggest that you purchase from "Riding Warehouse" for a good price, fast service and economical shipping.
