Key Features

  • Non-ToxicNon-Toxic

Bits that are made from non-toxic materials, unlike most plastics, rubbers, and metals, are a safer option for horses who need a gentler bit.

  • Increased PalatabilityIncreased Palatability

Bits that increase palatability often incorporate sweet metals (such as copper and iron) or flavored plastics which encourage the horse to salivate, relax their jaw, and accept the bit. They may be inlaid into the bars, be the roller or lozenge, or make up the entire bar.

  • Leverage PressureLeverage Pressure

These bits use indirect pressure that multiplies the amount of force exerted on the horse's mouth, nose, or poll. They are used by riders who have little to no contact or are looking for more finesse and control.

  • Direct PressureDirect Pressure

Bits that use direct pressure have a 1:1 ratio where the pressure exerted on the reins will be the same pressure felt in the mouth. They are used by riders who often have contact with their horse's mouth.

From a trusted name with proven performance, the Korsteel® Copper Mouth Eggbutt Snaffle Bit is a versatile option appropriate for both schooling and competition. This classic snaffle bit features a single-jointed copper mouthpiece that collapses to create specific pressure on the tongue and moderate pressure on the bars and lips of the horse's mouth when the reins are engaged.

The traditional Eggbutt cheek piece is popular among nearly all English disciplines and has it's place in western training and competition, as well. The Korsteel® brand offers the finest hand-polished stainless steel for maximum luster, brilliance and classic cast construction for precise balance and performance.

Comments: Excellent quality bit. A little on the heavier side though. My gelding, who just finished training, slipped into this bit wonderfully for three months, then into a Korsteel Oval Link bit for another few months. He is not responding well to either bits, a year later, he's probably ready to upgrade to a thinner bit. No pinching problems with either bits. I did notice; however, the copper bit gets more sharp marks in it as the horse bites, so it doesn't last as long as stainless steel.
