GreenGuard Equine Lightweight Comfort Grazing Muzzle
Overview
The GreenGuard Equine Grazing Muzzle offers comfort and durability second to none! This unique grazing muzzle is constructed of a lightweight, non-toxic, semi-flexible, durable material that does not hold moisture, making it exceptionally easy to clean. Slotted throughout, not only does it provide superior ventilation but it also allows your horse to eat through different areas in the bottom, mimicking natural grazing behavior. This prevents one area from becoming worn out while giving your horse diversity and also allowing for unrestricted breathing and drinking. Designed to fit much larger than traditional muzzles, it also has a square basket-type shape that feels less confining since it sits off the face, meaning it won't rub and your horse won't go out of their way to try to take it off. The GG Equine comes with 4 breakaway straps that can be attached to your normal halter. Let your horse enjoy their pasture time with this innovative grazing muzzle!
Please Note: Horse and Pony sizes may not fit in some types of automatic waterers if the diameter is less than 11 inches. Please check to ensure the muzzle will fit in your waterer before ordering.

Please Note:
Please make sure to read the instructions before use as correct fitting is essential for this type of muzzle to work properly. If you have any fitting questions or problems, feel free to email support@gg-equine.com. We are 100% committed to happier horses and customers!
Safety Notes:
- The muzzle straps are designed to break away for safety purposes. It is also recommended to use a breakaway halter with your muzzle for additional safety.
- CAUTION: Check to ensure the muzzle fits in your horse's water source. Horse and pony size muzzles may not fit in automatic waterers with diameters less than 11 inches.
- Your horse will not be able to access a salt/mineral block through the muzzle. If wearing the muzzle for long periods of time, supplements may be necessary.
- ALL GRAZING MUZZLES POSE SOME RISK OF TEETH WEAR due to the fact that the horse's teeth may rub against the interior surface of the muzzle. To reduce this risk, wash the muzzle regularly to remove dirt and sand. You should check the horse's front teeth weekly, and if there are any signs of abnormal wear, discontinue use.

Fitting Instructions for GG Equine Muzzle:
1. Position muzzle. The correct orientation of the GG Equine muzzle is 3 slots to the front and 5 slots to each side. The front of the muzzle has a "GG Equine" logo. Note that the muzzle is not symmetrical; if the muzzle is fitted sideways, your horse may not be able to fully open their mouth.
2. Attach straps to muzzle. Attach front strap to the ring on your halter's noseband. Attach the back strap under the horse's chin. Attach straps on either side to the halter's noseband or eyelets so that they hang perpendicular to the noseband.
3. Adjust the straps so that there is about 1 inch of space between the bottom of the muzzle and your horse's mouth, or about a half an inch for a mini pony. Fitted correctly, the muzzle should move freely around a horse's mouth. If it is fitted too tightly, it can lead to rubbing problems.
4. Adjust the straps so that the bottom of the GG Equine muzzle is parallel to the ground when your horse is grazing. For further fitting tips, check out this handy tutorial video to lead you through the fitting process, and one on getting the best possible angle.
Tips and Tricks:
Tip: Securing straps. The newer straps have an additional back-keeper bar. After you attach the strap to the muzzle, sliding it through the back keeper will prevent the strap from flopping about.
Tip: Resolving rubbing issues. The GG Equine muzzle is designed to fit larger and more loosely than traditional grazing muzzles. The fit is based on bit size so that it has play around a horse's nose and mouth. For detailed solutions to rubbing problems check here.
Tip for Houdini Horses: For escaping muzzles, use zip ties or baling twine which can be used in corners to block Houdinis from getting out. The GG Equine halter with a center face strap is also helpful in keeping the noseband from being pulled down. For escaping halters, tighten the halter so it is snug under the jaw. An additional neck strap attached to the halter crown may be needed for those especially talented Houdinis.
GG Equine Grazing Muzzle Angle:
Many of the issues we see with the GG Equine Grazing Muzzle can be corrected by adjusting the angle of the muzzle by lengthening and shortening the muzzle straps. The muzzle's grazing surface should be parallel to your horse's teeth.

Comments: I affectionately call them basket faces, but let me share these have been life-changing for our big Canadians. Big warmblood/draft size horses tend to not fit traditional grazing muzzles. These fit both the big girls & our roping horses. No wearing on the face and these muzzles are sturdy. I highly recommend trying these!

Comments: This muzzle is nothing short of amazing. I've previously tried the traditional black rubber style muzzles, even the ones that claim to be so much better. Even entirely rimmed with fleece they still rubbed raw open sores on my horse's face within a couple of days. I no longer need to worry about sores from rubbing and I don't have to worry about any of them getting this muzzle off either. My one horse was able to get out of the "premium" halter that fits snug under the jaw, but the "houdini" strap available through GreenGuard's website fixed that! I originally bought one for a horse who had previously grass foundered so that I could still put him out for a little while each day. I've since gotten one for each of my four horses so that they can now be turned out all day rather than just a few hours each day. While none of them "like" wearing a muzzle none of them seem to mind wearing this muzzle and willingly let me put it on each day. The first one I purchased is probably 3 years old now and the only wear it shows is that I've had to replace some of the straps which connect the muzzle to the halter. My horses are so much healthier and happier because of the extra turnout and I in turn am happier as well. The happy horses and peace of mind are worth every penny of the cost of the muzzle.

Comments: This muzzle in amazing! I tried 2 muzzles previously and they were both awful. Other muzzles are heavy, restrict the horses breathing, and are generally miserable, but not the Green Guard! Within 5 minutes my horse was happily eating and drinking in the paddock and has had no trouble. I felt terrible putting a muzzle on him but knew it was the best thing for his health. Right away seeing how comfortable he was in this muzzle I felt better. I cannot recommend the Green Guard muzzle enough, it's amazing.

Comments: I've been using the Greenguard muzzle and halter for my chubby Paint mare for a few weeks now. This is hands down the best muzzle that I have ever bought, and I've tried all the major brands. It fits very well, is very well made and easy to adjust. My mare took to it immediately, and I don't worry about her getting it off like I did with her past muzzles. I use the muzzle with the Greenguard halter. The halter is made in such a way to keep the muzzle secure and in place, especially with the removable strap that attaches from the crown piece to the noseband. I did find that the halter ran slightly small; I purchased the horse size for Wendy and it's adjusted to the largest adjustment. She has a 'blocky' stock horse head, and normally horse/full size fits her well.
