Product Details

Construction:

The HayPlay Bag is constructed from a food-grade, non-toxic, heavy-duty, marine-grade, PVC material that remains flexible in extreme conditions. The material does not hold moisture so it will not freeze, crack, or become rigid. Can withstand a temperature range of -22F to +158F (-30C to +70C).

How to Use:

Hanging: Use the heavy-duty mounting holes to hang it in your stall or turnout area. For safety, GG Equine recommends using baling twine so it will breakaway in case of emergency. Position the mounting points so that the bag has some slack and billows out. This will help keep the horse from scraping teeth across the material when the hay level gets low and prolong the life of the bag.
Ground feeding: You can place the HayPlay Bag directly on the ground in your pasture or dry lot. The back side of the bag is solid, so it will keep hay from touching the ground. GG Equine recommends placing it on a soft surface free of sharp rocks and gravel to prolong the life of the bag.

Care Instructions:

Rinse with water or wash with a mild soap. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as this can damage the outer coating. If you hang the HayPlay Bag in a stall, occasionally rotate the direction the bag is hung so that your horse's favorite hole locations are not overused. Keeping bags relatively full can help decrease stress on the bag from pawing, biting, etc.

Easy to use, and horses love itI use this when my horses are turned out on sand because I don't want them eating off of sand. I don't love hung hay bags because I like my horses to eat off the ground. This is ideal for that. My two horses can eat for 12+ hours out of this XL hay bag. It's easy for them and for us to fill and manage. We love it!

Alternative to slow feed hay netI like this better than the slow feed hay nets I have tried. It is well-made, and the holes are small enough to be safe but not super small. There is a big zipper on the top to fill it; however, the opening is not shaped like a bale of hay, so it took a little longer to fill. It appears well-made and durable. You could probably fit an entire small square bale if you tried, but half is very easy to fit.

Loved the idea, but…So while I loved the idea of this bag, after about 4 uses the zipper broke off. I can try to keep using the zipper, but it’s not very easy. I’m hoping to keep using it if the Velcro holds up. We'll see how that lasts.

Great option to haveI bought one to test it out. The material seems tough, and the zipper is heavy and strong. It isn't hard to fill and holds enough hay that I only have to fill it once a day instead of 2-3x. The back is solid, so it doesn't take on water from the wet ground. That also means the horses paw it around to adjust it. I ended up buying a second one. I like that they can eat off the ground in the field.

Great feederI've used the ball slow feeders for a while, and they are awesome and hold up well; however, they are time consuming to fill and only last a couple of hours with several horses. I chose the bag feeder because it is quick to fill, safe, holds up (unlike nets), holds at least 20 hours of hay, and makes my horses very happy. In a rush, I only have to fill the bag now and my horses have enough Bermuda grass for the day. I see a huge improvement to gut health due to the steady supply of grass. Definitely recommend the Bag Feeder XL.
