Key Features

  • Non-ToxicNon-Toxic

Bits that are made from non-toxic materials, unlike most plastics, rubbers, and metals, are a safer option for horses who need a gentler bit.

  • Increased PalatabilityIncreased Palatability

Bits that increase palatability often incorporate sweet metals (such as copper and iron) or flavored plastics which encourage the horse to salivate, relax their jaw, and accept the bit. They may be inlaid into the bars, be the roller or lozenge, or make up the entire bar.

  • Leverage PressureLeverage Pressure

These bits use indirect pressure that multiplies the amount of force exerted on the horse's mouth, nose, or poll. They are used by riders who have little to no contact or are looking for more finesse and control.

  • Direct PressureDirect Pressure

Bits that use direct pressure have a 1:1 ratio where the pressure exerted on the reins will be the same pressure felt in the mouth. They are used by riders who often have contact with their horse's mouth.

Communicate better with your upper-level dressage horse with the Oliver Fixed Ring Bradoon.

The Oliver is made of Grey Sweet Iron that encourages young and unbalanced horses to take the bit and carry it correctly. The design is 100% smooth, all away around the joints, never interfering or pushing against the palate or laying on top of the bars. The Oliver is a very comfortable bit that shapes naturally around the tongue. It has also been shown to protect the bars and flesh from burn marks and wounds on the most sensitive horse.

Comments: It is just remarkable how quiet both my horses' mouths got when I traded out my bits and switched them over to the Fager sweet iron bits. I tried this bradoon(as a snaffle, not with a double) on both my young horse who retracts his tongue and my older horse who will put his tongue out if he is uncomfortable. Both have low palates, big tongues, and are very sensitive. Within about 30 minutes of wearing the bit, both of them completely changed the way they have carried the bit. They both greatly prefer a soft bit with a narrow diameter, and both seem to absolutely love this sweet iron. A client horse who habitually put his tongue over bits was put in a sweet iron double bridle set by a professional bit fitter, and his mouth is now perfectly quiet. Amazing.
