Overview
The Explora Magic Racing Glue-On Shoe/Boot is a new concept in hoof protection for competitive horses. With a lightweight and ergonomic design, these glue-on boots provide secure and reliable protection that only weighs a little over 200 grams. The rugged sole is specifically crafted to provide the horse traction across all terrains while durable construction allows these boots to go for miles and miles. For easier application, Explora has designed the glue to be injected with the boot on which reduces waste, distributes the glue correctly, and makes for easier cleanup.

Gluing Instructions:
Getting Started:
You need a suitable place, where the land is dry (concrete, etc.), comfortable, and flat. The horse should never stay uphill (so the boot will not move backward).
- Trim the hoof according to the guidelines of natural trimming (rolling, etc.).
- Get the boots on the hooves to make sure they are the right size. If they fit well, you can move on to preparing the hoof for the boot/shoe. If they don’t (irregular, vertical, or flared hooves), consider making a fit using heat; this would be the right time.
How to Prepare the Hoof for the Boot:
- With a rasp, file the area of the hoof wall that will be in contact with the boot. This will facilitate the adhesion of the glue.
- Do not touch the newly cleaned area to avoid greasing it.
- Dry the hoof. You can use a powerful dryer or a mini blowtorch to dry it by making quick passes over the hoof wall (in the area where the boot will be placed). Do not overheat sensitive areas. It is very important to avoid moisture during the entire gluing process. It is very important to avoid moisture during the entire gluing process.
- Scratch the hoof. Streak the hoof vertically, to facilitate adhesion of the glue. To do this you must place the file perpendicular to the wall of the hoof.
From now on it is very important that the hoof does not get dirty. You should not touch it on the part where the glue is going to be applied so that it is not greased.
How to Glue the Racing Boot:
- Clean the inside walls of the boot. Although the boots are already sent with sanded inside walls, for better adhesion of the glue it is advisable to clean this area (to remove the dust that could have adhered in the transport) with a clean wire brush (manual, or circular for use with drill). Do not touch the newly cleaned area to avoid greasing it.
- Place the boot on the hoof and wrap it with several turns of plastic wrap.
- Pierce the plastic wrap right in the area that matches the holes in the boot walls. To do this, you can use a nail or a similar object. These 3 holes will be used to introduce the glue through the glue mixing tips. To do this, you can use a nail or a similar object.
- Open the glue correctly. It is very important that the cut of the pike is very precise for the correct mixing of the components. For this reason, it is important that you open the glue with tongs (razors or scissors can cause undesired diagonal cuts). It is very important that the cut of the pike is very precise for the correct mixing of the components. For this reason, it is important that you open the glue with tongs (razors or scissors can cause undesired diagonal cuts). Next, insert a nail into the 2 material exit holes to make sure the glue comes out correctly. Avoid touching the glue with your fingers.
- Prepare the dispensing gun with glue and a mixing tip. Apply a new mixing tip in the glue cartridge and place it on the dispensing gun, which must be suitable for the characteristics of the glue cartridge you are using. The dispensing gun must be suitable for the characteristics of the glue cartridge you are using.
- Discarded part of the glue. You must discard the first thread of glue that comes out through the mixing tip to make sure that the mixture you are going to use in the gluing process is homogeneous. Normally with the amount equivalent to marble is enough. Normally with the amount equivalent to marble is should be enough.
- Inject the glue through the holes you’ve just made until it is distributed throughout the wall of the hoof. Keep in mind that the glue usually dries in about 35-60 seconds, so you should do it quickly. When you finish using the glue, remember to close it correctly (with the mixing tip or a cap) to avoid drying it.
- Let dry and remove the glue residue. When it has dried, it removes the traces of glue that have spilled out of the holes. For this, you can use pliers or scissors.
- Remove the plastic wrap from the boot
- Prepare the dispensing gun to inject the silicone. Apply a new mixing tip in the silicone cartridge and place it on the dispensing gun, which must be suitable for the characteristics of the silicone cartridge you are using. The dispensing gun must be suitable for the characteristics of the silicone cartridge you are using.
- Inject the silicone to make the pad. After the injection of the glue, wait a minute (approx.) And then lift each hoof and inject the silicone through the central hole of the sole and also from the back into the space between the palm of the hoof and the sole of the boot. After injecting it, place the hoof on the floor quickly so that the silicone expands well and takes the shape of the palm before the silicone dries. This step is made to block the entry of foreign objects (such as rocks) and make the horse feel more comfortable.
- Work finished!
How to Remove the Boot:
To remove the boot correctly, you can use a flat screwdriver with a blunt tip. This, introduced in the area where the glue is stuck between the hoof and the inner wall of the boot, will allow you to leverage between both. When hitting the screwdriver gently with a rubber hammer (exerting the force outwards so as not to damage the hoof wall), the boot will gradually detach from the hoof. If you do it carefully, and the boots are not damaged
If you do it carefully, and the boots are not damaged, you can reuse the same boots for a new gluing session.
