Collegiate Lightweight Anatomic Dressage Girth
2.8
Overview
The Collegiate Lightweight Anatomic Dressage Girth will keep your saddle secure while allowing comfortable movement for your horse. This uniquely contoured girth is shaped to naturally sit in the horse's heart girth to prevent uncomfortable rubbing of the elbow. The ergonomic shape also aids with saddle fit by allowing the shoulder to swing freely during work. Constructed of a durable synthetic material, this girth is oh-so-easy to clean. Internal elastic ensures this girth will stretch with your horse, while roller buckles on both ends offer easy tightening.

Uh oh - ridgesI selected this girth because it has all of the qualities I want in a girth:
First-it's neoprene, almost rubber-like on the surface that touched the horse. Second—it's wide and that would be more comfortable for the horse. Third—it's contoured to avoid interfering with the horse's shoulders.
Here's the problem - and it's a real deal-breaker for me and everyone horse person I know. When the girth is bent in the shape it would be on the horse (like a “U”), ridges form on the part that touches the horse. It just buckles a bit. And they are hard ridges. I bought three of these girths to see if they all did it, and unfortunately, they do. My guess is that this girth might lead to some behavior problems when saddled and tightened like normal.
Please, if you have this girth, just check to see if it buckles and has small ridges between the girth and the horse. I hope it doesn't because it's a really nice girth!RW Response: We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Collegiate Lightweight Anatomic Dressage Girth! Review Collegiate GirthNice looking girth and easy to clean but gapes where it should fit firmly on the underside.RW Response: We are sorry to hear of your experience with the Collegiate Lightweight Anatomic Dressage Girth. Nice construction, lacks featuresThis is a pretty nice girth, but a couple of features would make it even better. The first keeper for the billets needs to be stitched down between the billets. There needs to be an additional strap to keep the tails from flapping. There is a shallow pocket you could tuck 2" of end into, but it's not enough. Finally, on a wonky built equid, I have to use the girth in reverse of its design. It would have been nice to have D-rings on each side of the girth instead of one big carabiner which admittedly should be pointing in the correct direction.
Collegiate Anatomic Girth- Cheap MaterialsI'm an independent saddle fitter and quite often buy equipment and use it myself before I recommend it to a client. The side that doesn't touch the horse is made of a cheap stiff material. And there are two creases in the girth that create a crease/ lump that I'm sure can be felt when tightened. I do not recommend this girth. RW Response: We apologize that the Collegiate Lightweight Anatomic Dressage Girth did not work out for you! Provides Gall reliefThis girth provides anatomical support and had reduced gall inflammation and healing. When trying to tuck the billet straps inside, there is an obstruction that makes it very difficult. There seems to be a seam or material that prevents me from fully tucking in the straps, so they bulge out. After a lot of maneuvering with a hairbrush holding the slot open, I can eventually get them in. I like the girth for the relief, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

Comments: This girth is a good idea and very easy to clean however I rode in it a few times and decided to return it. When I girthed my boy up there were a lot of pressure points created by the design and the front part always had a gap. Also the material looks very nice laying flat but as you bend it up all these little ridges are created and my gelding was not happy. Thank you Riding Warehouse for having such a great return policy and helping me find a new girth we love.
