Key Features

Wide FootbedWide Footbed

Key Features

  • Wide FootbedWide Footbed

Stirrups with a wide footbed provide a larger surface area for the rider's foot, helping distribute pressure for improved stability, control, and comfort. This design is popular among riders across various disciplines, from endurance to show jumping.

  • Extra GripExtra Grip

Stirrups with extra grip or aggressive tread provide added traction to help keep the rider's foot securely in place. This feature is especially useful for riders traveling at speed or jumping, where a steady leg position is essential.

  • Quick Release SystemQuick Release System

Quick-release stirrups are designed to open under pressure so a rider's foot can disengage during a fall. Some feature a hinged arm that releases, while others use an open design that allows the foot to slip free more easily.

  • Offset/Angeled EyeletOffset/Angeled Eyelet

Stirrups with offset or angled eyelets help riders achieve proper position in the irons. Ideally, a rider's foot sits at about a 45-degree angle, with the outside branch slightly forward and the inside branch slightly back. The angled eyelet encourages the foot to turn inward, allowing the rider to apply leg aids more effectively.

Scale

  • Light Weight

Lightweight stirrups (under 1 lb) are favored by riders who prefer lighter tack for performance, such as endurance riders during competition. A drawback of this weight is that a lost stirrup can be harder to retrieve due to its lighter build.

  • Medium Weight

Midweight stirrups (1-1.5 lbs) offer a balanced feel that many riders prefer for everyday riding and competing. They provide enough weight for easy stirrup retrieval while still keeping tack relatively light.

  • Heavy Weight

Heavyweight stirrups (over 1.5 lbs) are preferred by riders who want maximum stability and easy stirrup retrieval. The added weight helps the stirrups hang in place, making them favored by dressage riders.

Add extra rider comfort to your tack with the Cashel Plain Slanted Western Stirrups! Made of heavy gauge aluminum with a smooth finish; these stirrups provide a classic look. The slanted design aids in relieving pressure off your knees and ankles, keeping you comfortable and avoiding strain. The addition of rubber treads helps your boot stay right where you need it to in the stirrup. A variety of tread widths to choose from to ensure you find just what works for you!

Great stirrups!Don't let the aluminum fool you, these have some quality weight to them! I personally like a stirrup with a little weight because they hang better and I don't feel like my foot will get caught up in them dismounting. The "crooked" part is great too. I find them very comfortable. I like a deeper foot bed so I got the 3."

Well worth the money.I had heard about 'crooked' stirrups and thought just another fad and a waste of money. My right knee would ache during long trail rides and I noticed that my right foot in the stirrup was at a different angle than my left foot. As much as I tried to keep it level, it would creep back to that weird angle. My horse is a draft cross and is like riding a barrel. The old stirrups would hang at a strange angle just looking at them without anyone in the saddle, soooo I decided to give these a try. I could return them if it didn't work out. I put them on and rode in them the next day. I could not believe it! I felt the difference as soon as I got in the saddle, and I was truly amazed how much better everything felt. If you are on the fence about these I would suggest you give them a try!
