More About Omega Horseshine:

All flaxseed used in Omega Fields’ products is milled to Global Food Safety Initiative standards for human consumption, employing a rigorous microbial reduction process and utilizing our Pure Glean stabilization technique for long shelf life. The flaxseed is certified to BRCGS Standards, and guaranteed shelf stable for a MINIMUM of one year under (many have an 18 month shelf life) ambient storage conditions – no refrigeration or special packaging required!

Omega Horseshine® is also a nutritious alternative for pysllium husks to help prevent sand colic. Omega Horseshine® contains a high mucilage (soluble fiber) content that swells and takes a gel-like consistency, flax mucilage traps and suspends sand, carrying it out of the GI tract. Omega Horseshine® acts to buffer excess acid and aids in the stabilization and modulation of blood glucose.

Good but a bit priceyIf you're just feeding this for the flax, it can be kind of expensive. However, flax can spoil really quickly, so the fact that this is stabilized is nice. It is effective in helping reduce my pony's summer sweet itch.

Previous Feedback

Comments: Horseshine is the best supplement in my horse's diet! He only gets a couple of things, but over the last several years the one thing that we can never stop is his Horseshine. Not only does it boost his energy levels, endurance, recovery, and skin health - but it somehow keeps his persistent sarcoid at bay. The one time I stopped feeding Horseshine for 1-2 months, it came back. I panicked and put him back on the supplement, and it disappeared again after a few months. This thing is on his chest, and for many years it slowly grew and got nastier. Horseshine enables his body to fight it somehow - so I can only imagine what else it is helping him with that I cannot see!

Comments: I eat only organic and avoid corn, soy, gluten, etc. for medical reasons. Yes, it's expensive but if it makes me feel better then it's worth it. My horses are my "kids" and I like to give them the best. This is an effective supplement that yields results that are worth more than you pay for it. My 3 1/2 year old Chestnut Hano/TB mare has been on it for a year and her coat shines like a new copper penny, her whites are effortlessly white even when she rolls, she has firm manure, a long mane and tail, and strong barefoot hooves with no cracks that hold up to riding on gravel, concrete, rocky trails and dressage. Granted she was healthy before but I have just seen a bloom in her exterior appearance and her personality/mood that if I forget it a few weeks, I notice. Plus John Lyons recommended it and he knows his stuff! She also gets Source, also recommended by John Lyons, a multivitamin by Equerry, salt (iodized/redmond/himalayan), Timothy pellets, Alfalfa hay.

Comments: I just noticed that RW carries this.  My horse has allergies and would develop huge welts all over his body.  There was not one definitive thing he reacts to.  After much researching and trial and error, I found that flax can help that.  I spoke to Omega Fields and they gave me a dosage to use and within a week the hives were gone, not to return.  It has been many years now since he's had a welt.  This will be part of his diet for his entire life.  I am EXTREMELY grateful for this product.
