Ingredients: Bentonite (Bowie Type clay) and a proprietary extract of witch hazel bark and leaves with the following common herbs: Arnica (Arnica montana), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) and Sodium Borate (as a preservative).

WITCH HAZEL

  • Scientific Name: Hamamelis virginiana
  • What It Does: A by-product of the distillation of the leaves and stems of the plant. This hydrosol, or floral water, is a natural astringent and tonic. It relieves irritation and discomfort due to minor cuts, scrapes, abrasions and insect bites. It has a lower alcohol content than rubbing alcohol therefore making it less harsh than alcohol based products. It has anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory qualities which makes it an excellent ingredient in liniments, toners and lotions for sensitive skinned animals.

ARNICA

  • Scientific Name: Arnica montana
  • What It Does: Arnica is known to stimulate blood circulation which flushes out inflammation and speeds healing to an area. It works by stimulating the activity of white blood cells that perform much of the digestion of congested blood, and by dispersing trapped, disorganized fluids from bumped and bruised tissue, joints and muscles. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities that can reduce pain, swelling, and improve the potential for quicker wound healing. Arnica in the raw plant state is considered to be toxic and can possibly induce vomiting, weakness, increased heart rate and nervous disturbances. If ingested, it should always be done so in a homeopathic preparation only; meaning none of the original substance is present to be absorbed. Topically it is safe to use and animals rarely experience an allergic reaction to the plant.

ROSEMARY

  • Scientific Name: Rosmarinus officinalis
  • What It Does: Rosemary is beneficial to both hair and skin and was traditionally used to help alleviate muscle pain, improve memory, and boost the immune and circulatory systems. Topically, it is revered to stimulate hair follicles to grow and encourage circulation to the area which, in turn, encourages hair growth as well as flushing out of toxins in that area

COMFREY

  • Scientific Name: Symphytum officinale
  • What It Does: Comfrey is said to be anti-inflammatory and has long earned the name “knit-bone” due to its ability to help accelerate the mending of broken bones, fractures and wounds. It is high in Calcium and Vitamin C and simulates healing activity due to its natural concentration of allantoin. It is cautioned not use the herb as a salve on deep open wounds since it may heal the outside of the wound faster than the inside.

GINGER

  • Scientific Name: Zingiber officinale
  • What It Does: Ginger is an anti-inflammatory herb and stimulant with warming and soothing properties. Topically, it promotes circulation to the skin and scalp, aiding joint and muscle stiffness, body aches, skin burns and inflammation.

Comments: I love Sore No More! And more importantly, so do my horses. I apply it all over the legs, especially after a tough ride. However, please be aware that this product contains arnica and is not legal for use during AERC competitions.
