Design & Materials:
Running martingales are used to discourage a horse from raising his head too high to evade the action of the bit. Each rein runs through the ring on each end of the martingale straps, providing a point of leverage to aid in teaching a horse to yield to pressure from the rider's hands. If the horse raises his head above a certain point (determined by how short or long the martingale straps are adjusted), the martingale restricts the movement of the reins, which in turn causes pressure on the bit and the horse's mouth.

Made to look and feel like high-grade leather, this low-maintenance material is specially engineered to be sweat and rot resistant, so it will never harden, stretch or shrink - even after years of use. A heavy-duty nylon webbing core provides extraordinary strength; Equileather has been tested to over a 1/2 ton breaking strength!
Maintenance is easy as can be - simply rinse with warm soapy water and wipe dry!
