Materials & Construction:
Plush 65%/35% Natural Wool/Poly Blend cozies up against your horse, wicking moisture from the haircoat, while Skito's Equalizer foam inserts cushion your tush and your horse's back! The amazing Equalizer® open-cell foam is captured in pockets on both sides of the pad, creating a channel to protect your horse's spine. The foam is housed between the top and bottom fabrics. The insert pockets are sealed securely with heavy-duty Velcro closure at the back edge of the pad for easy access. The bottom half of the pad is lined with quilted felt. This material wicks moisture and heat from your horse, keeping them cooler and drier.
Skito's Equalizer® foam is a high performance, high density, open cell elastomeric foam. Medically tested and proven, conforming slow air release technology provides exceptional impact absorption and uniform weight and pressure distribution with virtually no rebound or bounce effect. Equalizer® foam has excellent shape retention and may feel firm at first, but quickly absorbs the heat from your horse's back and conforms to its specific shape and muscle contour for a customized effect!
Care & Cleaning: It's a snap! Just pull the foam inserts from the Velcro closure, toss the cover in the washer with a little horse shampoo, then air dry! The wool fleece comes out looking like new even after being encrusted with grime and sweat! The open-cell equalizer foam may be cleaned with cool water and vinegar.
Fabric: The Cotton Poly Duck fabric will offer more "stick" to help prevent your saddle from slipping, along with the rubber strips along either side of the spine.

Comments: I have used this pad before and found it to be one of the best on the market. It does require a warm-up time if it is cold out. I just put the pad in the truck cab on the way to the trail head and presto, it is ready to ride.

Comments: Years ago I had several Skito pads. Then my horse was diagnosed with an allergy to sheep’s wool so I sold them. They were fantastic pads. He has now apparently outgrown the allergy so wool is an option. I first tried some Tokalt T3 Matrix pads. I was NOT impressed with their foam. The ortho-impact was even squishy. I see Skito is back and tried one of them. Just as it always had been, this is a super pad. The foam has enough firmness, the pad is not bulky and the high-quality workmanship is there. It is expensive but Skitos last a very long time. Highly recommend.
