Taking the guesswork out of saddle fitting, the Port Lewis Impression Pad Saddle Fit System offers a unique and easy-to-use alternative to costly saddle fittings. The Impression Pad is made up of two separate pieces of durable, clear vinyl filled with exclusive Equi-Dough putty material that molds to the shape of the back and reveals pressure points caused by the saddle.
Designed to be used under the saddle as your horse moves, this is the only system that allows you to accurately assess saddle fit as the horse is moving with a rider in the saddle. The pads can be smoothly rolled back to their original state for multiple uses, allowing you to assess your saddle fit over and over!

The reusable design of the Impression Pad Saddle Fit System allows riders to test and asses their saddle fit on every saddle and every horse as often as desired! Before use, the Impression Pads should be evenly rolled out with a baker's rolling pin to achieve a smooth finish. The Equi-Dough can also be affected by extreme temperatures - take care to keep your Impression Pad in a room temperature environment for the best results.
How to Use:
Place the smoothed-out Impression Pads on either side of your horse's spine, directly on his back and adjust the Velcro tabs to achieve the desired fit, accommodating the horse's wither to prevent unnecessary pinching. Position and secure your saddle atop the Impression Pads in it's normal place. Do not use a saddle pad.
Use a fence or block to mount to prevent uneven pressure on the saddle. Ride your horse through all gaits in both directions for 15-25 minutes. Because the Impression Pad is NOT a saddle pad, it will NOT protect your horse's back from uncomfortable pressure points. Due to this fact, Port Lewis and Riding Warehouse do not recommend using the Impression Pad under saddle for more than 25 minutes.
Dismount, remove the saddle and remove the Impression Pads. Hold the pads up to a source of light to check for any clear areas - these areas will be of most concern since enough pressure was exerted to push all the Equi-Dough out from under that point. Take a picture of your Impression Pad results, then call Port Lewis Workshop at 1-800-605-8575 to discuss the results with a knowledgeable customer service representative!
