Overview
The Click Horse Hock Shield Ultra Hock Protectors-Pair are custom-fit cushioned hock protectors designed to stay in place to prevent and heal hock sores. If a horse has a hock injury or bed sore, repeated lying down can aggravate the area and prevent healing. Some sores just become larger and/or deeper. The healing process cannot take place unless a protective layer is placed between the ground and the skin.
The soft, flexible pocket in the center back of the Hock Shield provides comfort in the delicate area where the tendons pass just under the skin. Great for horses that get sores on the outside of the hock, as well as in the back. Sometimes these are more appropriate for older horses as they will compensate for other stiff joints by leaning against the hock as they rise.
The Ultra offers additional coverage by providing an extra panel of cushioned fabric that covers the front of the hock. Not only does this provide additional protection, it adds stability to the hock shield meaning it stays in place for longer periods of times, especially useful for horses in turnout!

Comments: Previously these used to come in several sizes (S, M, L, XL) where it was easier to find a better fit. The last two pairs I have purchased with the new sizing have not fit as well. My horse wears these pretty much 24/7 and they do help prevent sores --- when they stay on. After a month of use, the newer boots are ripping at the back and no longer stay up.

Comments: I was thrilled to find a great price on these boots at Riding Warehouse. Our TB wears a large in the ones I've purchased in the past at other sites. I'm not happy that these are L/XL. They do work, but don't fit as nicely. They also have a hard strip of Velcro that extends past the boot and is in contact with the horse. It's not easy to get it to lay flat and it's concerning that it could rub the horse. I would not have bought these, even with the better price, had I known this before I ordered them.
